It's Time to "Smile": Oshawa, ON-Based Punk Band BUSM Debuts Newest Release in Rock 'N' Roll Campaign - @thebeast

ICYMI: With tangy wah-guitar peppered on top of throbbing bass and drum handoffs, Canadian rockers BUSM — Big Up Sour Mash — have unleashed their newest high-voltage single, “Smile” — available now!    Sure to give you something to “Smile” about while you jam along, BUSM is a three-piece hard rock outfit from Oshawa, Ontario, and features Shawn Cormier on guitar, Dustin Cormier on bass, and Mike Loyal on drums. Their journey started as a comedic acoustic-rock group, but eventually morphed into “a three-headed dragon of electric commercial punk mixed with dark, erotic undertones of rock ‘n’ roll.”   While there isn’t so much fire being spewed in BUSM’s newest single, “Smile” features plenty of the punk and rock ‘n’ roll Big Up Sour Mash is recognized for. “The intention with ‘Smile’ was a riff-rock blues vibe reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix and/or Stevie Ray Vaughn,” the band recollects.  “Shawn's high-pitched vocal added more of a pop sound to the jazzy instrumentals of the rhythm section, played by Dustin (bass player) and Mike (Drummer).”   As is tradition for any good punk band, BUSM has managed to sneak some clever underlying messages into their newest release. While “Smile” is disguised as a funkadelic pop single, the overall message isn’t lost on anyone who is critically listening.   “In some ways, the song lyrics reflect a commentary on social media and the pressure everyone feels to look good in society: to project a positive image,” the band says. “It is a commentary on the organic nature of smiling — an act which cannot be forced.”   It is worth mentioning BUSM’s producer, Austin Nolan, and, specifically, his dedication to the acquisition of gear and his grasp on audio engineering. Big Up Sour Mash gives Nolan credit for his dedication to the group, reflecting on Austin Nolan’s input during the creative process. “Austin is very very meticulous as an engineer/producer, taking painstaking time to sculpt the body of the sound that you hear throughout this whole EP.”   BUSM started a release campaign at the beginning of 2021, each housed under the Smile EP, and with “Smile” as their newest addition. “We took a new approach to releasing the songs by debuting them all as singles, each with their own unique album art.,” they say of the inventive rollout. “We took a lot of time figuring out the aesthetics of each title cover, which we are particularly fond of and proud of.”   “Smile” is available now.

Listen to the interview on YouTube! Listen to the interview on iTunes! Tommy Dahlström: Vocals Zeb Nilsson: Guitar Daniel Dlimi: Guitar Tony Östman: Bass Janne Jaloma: Drums (Session) With 2012's Aeons Black standing as one of the defining death metal albums of the twenty-first century it has been a long wait for the follow up. In 2021, Sweden's Aeon finally return with its successor, God Ends Here, and in doing so only up the ante with a record that is bigger, harder and stronger in every way. "I wasn't feeling any pressure after such a gap, we don't do shit half assed and I feel like this is our strongest album yet," states guitarist Zeb Nilsson. A darker, even more epic collection, it is everything an Aeon fan could want with a few surprises in store, pushing the genre in new directions and once again asserting that they are one of the most important bands in extreme metal. The main reason for the gap between records lies in finding the right drummer, having had a few pass through their ranks in the interim, Dark Funeral/Imperium drummer Janne Jaloma now manning the kit. "Janne is as many people already know a machine. He watched us open for Cannibal Corpse in Gothenburg in 2006 and seeing Nils (Fjellström) playing the drums with us was what got him to start playing. His style is basically based on the Aeon drum style, so a perfect fit for us." Making his recording debut with the band is also bassist Tony Östman, who joined in 2013, during the touring cycle for Aeons Black. "What is cool about Tony is that he really works as a bass player. He doesn't just copy the guitars, he really put a lot of thought and new ideas into the bass lines. An amazing musician and lyric writer, he wrote three songs and two of them made it onto this album. He also wrote lyrics and vocal patterns for them." Guitarist Daniel Dlimi, who departed the Aeon fold in 2013 also returned to the band's ranks in 2019, which inspired Nilsson to write, having really missed collaborating with him. Penning the first new music for the record back in 2014 - coming up with the chords for the chorus of titanic closer "Queen Of Lies" at a venue in Munich, Germany, and having Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse, Brett Bamberger from Revocation and Östman try it with different pedals before the doors opened - Nilsson had a very clear idea of what he wanted to achieve with God Ends Here. While there are a lot of thrash influences on Aeons Black, the guitarist was intent on bringing something new to the table this time out. "I have absolutely no interest in just doing the exact same style over and over again. So I did some more 'epic' stuff with other influences, like Samael and Emperor and different classical pieces. As we worked on the album I came up with an idea to continue where we left off on Aeons Black. So the first thing on this album is an alternative version of how Aeons Black ended. If were to compare it to something it would be the scene with the Balrog in Lord Of The Rings, where in the sequel you continue where the audience were left hanging, but here you get an alternative version or POV of the same thing." Added to this, he wanted there to be different themes that pop up here and there across the album, emulating films in the way that such elements come and go with the storyline. "This album has got two main themes in many alternative versions both in riffs and orchestral samplers in different songs, as well as intro tracks. If you listen carefully you will notice them. There's a lot of thought put into this album in that way, and this is a way for us to push death metal further as a genre, but of course we are still Aeon. We will always sound like Aeon, we just go a bit further this time." When asking vocalist Tommy Dahlström where he's coming from lyrically he responds plainly. "When I write it's all about hate and anger. It fits our music perfectly. Most of the lyrics on this album are very personal, so I won't go into detail as to what they are about and what they mean to me, but hopefully they are written in a way so that the listener can find their own meaning with them. I think that's the beauty with lyrics, that they can mean something for me and something totally different for you." With the record finally written the band tracked it in multiple studios. Drums were recorded in Jaloma's own Studio Starköl, guitars and bass in the band's own Rise to Dominate Studio and the vocals were recorded at Metallfabriken Studio, where some guitar re-amping was also done. Producer Ronnie Björnström, who presided over Aeons Black, once again oversaw proceedings, making sure everything sounded as big as possible. Expanding the sonic palette are strings and choirs, the orchestral elements primarily programmed by Nilsson with Dlimi handling those on "Mephistopheles", while Nilsson wrote the choir parts. "They're programmed sampler choirs that are dubbed with me and my youngest daughter singing. We recorded four to six different harmonies each and all of those in four different channels to get the big sound of a real choir." With dramatic artwork by Italian artist Paolo Girardi the final piece of the puzzle, the finished package extends Aeon's legacy and gives the genre the push that was intended from the outset. They may have been gone a long time but make no mistake: Aeon are back, and God Ends Here will lay waste to all. https://www.metalblade.com/aeon/

It's Time to "Smile": Oshawa, ON-Based Punk Band BUSM Debuts Newest Release in Rock 'N' Roll Campaign - @thebeast

With tangy wah-guitar peppered on top of throbbing bass and drum handoffs, Canadian rockers BUSM — Big Up Sour Mash — have unleashed their newest high-voltage single, “Smile” — available now!

Listen to the interview on YouTube ! Listen to the interview on iTunes ! For thousands of years the word EXODUS has been used to describe a massive human migration; embarking upon an epic journey and change filled with such power that the earth itself shakes upon its commencement. All such grand exploits begin with a soft awareness for what truly lies beyond, yet 4 decades ago EXODUS had no way of knowing the extent to which their band would rise, conquer, trip up, and rise again. The formation of the beast we now call EXODUS began in Richmond California 1979, and although many started their journey as fans a few years down the line, there is no debating that the early 80’s was a time for major growth in the world of Thrash Metal, especially in the Bay Area of California. Being only kids at the time, all just learning to use their instruments, Tom Hunting, Kirk Hammett, Tim Agnello, and Keith Stewart began covering classic rock, punk rock, and Iron Maiden songs at backyard birthday parties. The less technologically inclined, music sharing, tape trading ways of the 70’s were still in full force and it was this striving for the acquisition of new sound that fiercely fueled the band’s tenacity to learn, play, and eventually write. Although Kirk Hammett famously left the band before their genre defining debut, “BONDED BY BLOOD,” Guitarist and lead writer Gary Holt had become a deep rooted foundation in the band, in 1982 EXODUS added the unparalleled, and infamous voice of the now tragically deceased Paul Baloff, solidifying their sound and putting what would become one of the most infamous Thrash albums of all time, on the map. “We were living for heavy metal, it was rad. It was a great time to be alive” remembers Gary Holt. With a new and semi-solid line up of Hunting, Holt, Baloff, Hunolt, and McKillop, “BONDED BY BLOOD” was finally released to the world in 1985. The importance of this album, and its influence on all the heavy metal composers that we have grown to love and respect today, can never be understated for both fans, and the guys in the band. “A lot of bands hit their peak a couple albums in, we busted right out the gates with this face melting, thrash masterpiece,” Holt recalls, “that first time when the shipment came in, and I opened the box, and I was holding that BONDED BY BLOOD vinyl in my hands… that’s a feeling you’ll never replicate. That’s pretty amazing.” In 1987, the release of their second full length album “Pleasures Of The Flesh” was preceded by Baloff leaving, and current lead vocalist Steve Zetro Souza joining the band and solidifying his place as the voice of EXODUS. 8 more studio albums would follow, and through more member switches, time off, family illness, and even death would try to interfere with the progression of the band, they still exist, write music, and garner respect as true royalty in today’s kingdom of heavy metal. Now celebrating 40 years as a band, truly looking back and reflecting upon the massive history of EXODUS can reignite some wildly significant memories. “What stands out most to me was getting to play our first tour with Venom in 1985, and then going to Europe with them afterwards,” reflects founder and drummer Tom Hunting. “Being 19-20 years old with a double decker bus, traveling the world with no real concept of time or budget, we were just like ‘wow, this is awesome.’” This small town California band saw an entirely new world when they began networking and globetrotting with their idols. They came into opportunity and experience that would forever catapult their career. “Over in Europe, playing the Dynamo Festival for the first time in 1989 in front of what must have been 20,000 people watching us… that was life changing,” says Hunting. Currently, the EXODUS lineup is comprised of: Tom Hunting on Drums, Gary Holt on Guitar, Lee Altus on Guitar, Jack Gibson on Bass, and Steve “Zetro” Souza as lead vocalist. All these years and EXODUS still boast a similar writing process to what they started out with. Although technology has made it so that the recording and mixing processes are less time consuming, the main change is really just that “[they] respect what [they] do a lot more,” states Hunting. “We’ve humbled ourselves to the journey and consider ourselves lucky to do what we do, but our creative process is still the same. Basically drums, guitar concepts; those are the starting point. After the music begins to take place we all process it and write together. When we were kids it was about the party. Now that we’re men, we’re in it more for the journey.” “To this day I still write a riff the way I did in the beginning,” explains Holt. “I write to make myself happy and I’m still always looking for that sick, brutal ass riff; it hasn’t changed. I kinda stick with my guns on how I do things.” With Holt just finishing up his world famous final run with SLAYER, the supportive network of friends and musicians that is EXODUS patiently await fully re-submerging themselves into a new record. With new ideas and riffs already in the works, not only can these masters of metal assure us upcoming new music, but an abundance of world-wide touring is inevitable. “I can’t tell you how long it’ll go on,” says Hunting, “the fuse is definitely shorter. We’re obviously closer to where it ends than where it started… but we’ll take it one record at a time. As long as we feel good about what we’re doing, there’s good things happening right now in this genre of music, and we want to be a part of that. A lot of bands want to retire but that’s not us. The potential for our next record could be career defining. We’re taking our time and not rushing any songs.” Regardless of how us metalheads may see it, Heavy Metal will forever be one of the more niche genres in the music industry. Longevity is the key here; to have reigned for over 40 years and created 10 unique, game changing, full length albums amidst the even smaller bailiwick of Thrash Metal. EXODUS not only remain unwavering in their delivery, but in their strength and progression as a successful and unique sonic endeavour that make your every bone rattle and your blood churn in the best of ways. https://exodus.bfan.link/persona-non-grata VISIT THE BAND Website: https://www.exodusattack.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/exodusattack Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/exodusbandofficial/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ExodusAttack YouTube: https://nblast.de/subs-exodus-yt

Psychic Pawn - Eulogy: The Complete Anthology - Reviewed By At the Gates of Metal! - @thebeast

Psychic Pawn - Eulogy: The Complete Anthology - Reviewed By At the Gates of Metal ! Check it out here at this link: https://www.auxportesdumetal.com/reviews/PsychicPawn/psychicpawn-eulogythecompleteanthology.html In the series of forgotten groups, here is one that stands out there. A relatively short-lived Phoenix, Arizona band (1989-1994, a priori), Psychic Pawn has released only one album(Decadent Delirium,in 1994) following two demos and an EP. It's really the kind of band that came a little late to really make themselves known, despite an undeniable talent. It must be said that releasing an album in 1994 when most of the death classics were released between 1988 and 1992, it was a little warmed up. But it would be a real shame to miss out again, for those who have missed the boat. This compilation contains the first two demos (CD2) as well as their only album (CD1). The '91 demo, titled Expedient Demise, contains four tracks. It's death metal mixed with other styles like thrash, even heavy, or even punk/hardcore; that is to say how much the group was still looking for itself at that time, when most of the rican death formations had already found themselves well and made a place on this vast stage. The demo of '92, Wake Of Entity, three tracks and on K7 only, is already much more interesting: the technical level is higher, the work of harmonies / melodies is more advanced, we clearly glimpse a draft of style and a better defined orientation. The rapprochement with theearly-Gorguts is obvious, and that will not change with the album. We arrive at the album itself, released late, therefore, and yet quite brilliant in its category. Their death is technical, even sophisticated, at least rhythmically. Everyone has their place, between the guitar riffs sometimes catchy, sometimes labyrinthine, the bass that sometimes plays alone on appeal, but which also has its place within the ensemble, the drums that plays with precision and all in variation, a song certainly quite monolithic but much more mastered than at the beginning of the group. The rapprochement with albums like Considered Dead and The Erosion Of Sanity remains topical, and it has undoubtedly served them well. Especially since the production of Bill Metoyer, accustomed at the time to produce thrash/crossover(Flotsam And Jetsam, Sacred Reich, D.R.I., Cryptic Slaughter, Hirax)and power/heavy(Armored Saint, Fates Warning, Helstar)is not quite on the same level as the work of a certain Scott Burns. Another casting error, the label of the album, Cacophonous, better known for its black releases(Cradle Of Filth, Bal Sagoth, Dimmu Borgir, Deinonychus, Sigh)than death. I will not say that these are death classics, we have not forgotten them for nothing. But I think that any death fan of the time must listen to the almost complete discography (gathered here, therefore) of this group who still had a certain talent. - At the Gates of Metal PSYCHIC PAWN "EULOGY: THE COMPLETE ANTHOLOGY" 2-CD DELUXE EDITION NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER... RELEASE DATE: June 11, 2021 *PRE-ORDER SALE PRICE UNTIL 06/10, REGULAR PRICE $13.99*  FFO: Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Suffocation "PSYCHIC PAWN were gruesome maniacs with tons of technical flair. One of the earliest Cacophonous releases, the Americans’ only album "Decadent Delirium" was a thrilling rush of untutored aggression and vein-popping fretwork that, with hindsight, clearly paved the way for Death Metal’s creative rejuvenation in the early 21st century. Brilliantly twisted stuff and a telling statement of intent from Cacophonous." "Wake Of Entity" would catch the attention of England's Cacophonous Records and would release the three track 7" E.P. "Disgorged Suppuration" in late 1993.   In 1993 Cacophonous Records would sign the band and release their debut album "Decadent Delirium" November of 1994 (produced by Bill Metoyer) to much acclaim. Unfortunately this would be the bands only album release. After the demise of PSYCHIC PAWN the members would go on to form other acclaimed bands such as BORN OF FIRE and IMAGES OF EDEN.   "Eulogy: The Complete Anthology" compiles all of the bands studio recordings with remastering handled by Rob Colwell at Bombworks Sound. Includes a 16-page booklet with archival photo's and fliers, and a new interview with guitarist Micha Kite conducted by Jon Norberg of Contaminated Tones Web Zine.   LIMITED EDITION CD PRESSING OF 500 UNITS WORLD WIDE...   FOR FANS OF: Malevolent Creation, Morbid Angel, Solstice, Disincarnate   For the full track listing, and to hear two cuts from this release, be sure to head over to the store.   Thank you to everyone for their continued business and support, we truly appreciate you. Aided and abetted by select guest musicians, the six tracks take us on an epic journey through one man’s vision that is sure to captivate your soul." - The Sleeping Shaman "If you wanted interesting music with a dose of personality and originality, well here you have it." - Dargedik Rock Metal Webzine The follow up to Doom II, The Collapse sees WITNESSES extending its doom rock styles into even darker territory on this outing. Drawing influence on the melancholy down-tuned guitar harmonies of 90s British doom, but adding more traditional rock elements, soaring vocals layer on dirges to tell a story of great distress and questions unanswered. Formed in 2016 by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Greg Schwan, the goal of WITNESSES has always been and continues to be the creation of evocative music in multiple genres. All principle writing and arrangement on The Collapse was handled by Schwan, with vital contributions provided by session musicians, accompanied by art and design that complements the lyrical concepts. As of 2021, WITNESSES has explored cinematic ambient, doom metal, pop, and dark folk via six albums, an EP and four singles. “But, obviously, a narrator cannot take account of these differences of outlook. The performances are all superb, and the head spinning array of effects and experimental sounds imbue the whole affair with an intoxicating and ghostly atmosphere. An explosion of creativity, it is ahead of its time in some ways, and building on what has come before in others. CELTIC HILLS Issue Update on New Full-Length, To Guest Germana Noage Album, Launch Drummer Auditions - @thebeast

CELTIC HILLS Issue Update on New Full-Length, To Guest Germana Noage Album, Launch Drummer Auditions! Italian legendary Speed/thrash metallers CELTIC HILLS have issued an update on their new full-length, revealing also that Jonathan, the band's leader, will be guesting the new album of Germana Noage. Furthermore, the band is launching the auditions for new drummer. Read more details below. Jonathan stated: Some anticipation from Jonathan Vanderbilt on the new full length of Celtic Hills! The new album lacks the vocal parts to be recorded and there is already something new here! After this record, drummer Simone Cescutti will leave the band to devote himself to his personal career as a singer and then as a greeting from Celtic Hills towards his personal growth one of the songs will be sung by him. A way to greet the fans. Then we also anticipate that Jonathan will come out with an unreleased song on the single that opens the solo career of Germana Noage who had participated as a guest on Mystai Keltoy singing the song Eden. After that collaboration Jonathan wrote and played the song Surrender which will be released on November 19, 2021 again for Elevate Records. Celtic Hills are also evaluating the entry into the line up of a new drummer and therefore those who want to propose themselves can write to: jonathanvanderbilt@yahoo.de  Earlier Jonathan revealed on the upcoming album: "Again this time we will talk about Friuli, and the theory is at work that the location of the American Air Force Base Aviano is used to control an ancient access to the underground world, which has been used by the pagan gods since ancient times. The magical rites of the inhabitants of the mountains and the places where elves, fairies and gnomes once lived among the people are revealed. The style played is difficult to place in a single vein of metal, as there are many influences ranging from death to power, with sound elements that can also recall a certain type of 90's thrash. The singing is quite varied, and for some listeners it may seem unusual in a metal band. power, speed and good melodic lines distinguish the band from others. Between 2010 and 2020 they released "Horns helmet fighters" and for the Slovak Music Globalliance they came out on international compilations on volumes 2,3,4.  New CELTIC HILLS' logo was created by https://www.wappenschmied.com. UK HEAVY METAL LEGENDS ORANGE GOBLIN SIGN TO PEACEVILLE RECORDS - @thebeast

Orange Goblin have, over the last 25 years, more than earned the right to be considered among the greats of British heavy music, revered and respected by their legion of fans worldwide, the media and their musical peers, they are a band with the future firmly in their sights and Orange Goblin are now, ushering in a new era of heavy metal chaos. Following the departure of bassist Martyn Millard, the Londoners have regrouped, recruiting old comrade Harry Armstrong (ex-Hangnail/Earls Of Mars/End Of Level Boss) for their new studio opus and impending live shows, and have signed a new deal with Peaceville Records. “25 years of showing us how it’s done, how to rock this world hard .. I’ve never been in a band twenty five years, you guys did it you rocked hard and I hope you continue to go on and on” - Scott Reader (Kyuss, Goatsnake)   Orange Goblin’s singer Ben Ward comments “When we first started the band back in 1995, Peaceville was a label we admired so much due to the number of amazing bands they were releasing and building careers for at the time. To join a roster that released albums by the likes of Autopsy, Darkthrone, Paradise Lost, Anathema, My Dying Bride, Pentagram, At The Gates, Aura Noir and many more is an absolute honour and we look forward to continuing that amazing bloodline of talent, alongside the killer bands that they currently have on their books. We spoke to a few labels when our last deal ended and the enthusiasm, vision and passion for the music that Peaceville showed made this a really easy decision for all of us. We can't wait to start work on what will be the 10th Orange Goblin studio album. With a new bass player in place we are now writing new material and expect to have this released sometime in 2022. Cheers! “   “Great band, great guys” - Kirk Windstein (Down, Crowbar)   Paul Groundwell Peaceville’ label manager says “As trailblazers of the UK heavy metal scene for well over two decades now, and a band which has remained consistent in their attitude and with unwavering integrity towards their art, we're delighted to now welcome Orange Goblin to the Peaceville family for more top class doom-fuelled shenanigans to come".   Formed under the name Our Haunted Kingdom, way back in 1995, Orange Goblin entered the world of heavy music as wide-eyed enthusiasts, eager to channel the fire and fury of their favourite bands. Emerging amid the exhilarating melee of the mid-‘90s stoner rock and doom explosion, the Londoners immediately endeared themselves to a whole generation of metal fans. Orange Goblin’s debut album Frequencies From Planet Ten was released via esteemed underground imprint Rise Above Records in October 1997. From that moment on, their rabid dedication to playing live and always rocking people to within an inch of their lives earned them a formidable reputation and numerous opportunities to tour the world. A steady stream of critically acclaimed and widely revered studio albums has also added to Orange Goblin’s substantial legacy, from early classics like Time Travelling Blues and The Big Black through to more recent triumphs like 2012’s universally praised A Eulogy For The Damned and 2018’s equally hailed The Wolf Bites Back.   Now, with a new deal in place, the band are planning on 2022 bringing a new studio album, more explosive, celebratory live performances that the band’s ever-expanding fan base have come to expect.   Join Orange Goblin for a Halloween Facebook live Q&A session on Thursday 28th October at 8:30pm (UK) – https://www.facebook.com/orangegoblinofficial   Grab a pumpkin spiced beer or two, get comfy in your Squid Game costume and join Ben, Joe, Chris and Harry for an evening of banter, OG goings on and updates ORANGE GOBLIN LIVE   “First time I saw them they fucking kicked ass, last time I saw them they kicked ass”  - Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan)   Orange Goblin will be taking their heavy metal mayhem on the road in November & December, to promote and celebrate the release of their new live album  Rough & Ready, Live & Loud  – starting with 2 headline festival sets on the 5 th  at Damnation Festival Leeds and the 6th at HRH XIV, Great Yarmouth, before embarking on a Scandinavian and UK headline run. Satyricon Nemesis Divina 25 Year Retrospective - @thebeast

Black metal already existed long before it became a significant hit in Norway and flourished internationally before its heydays in Norway. However, the impact of the Norwegian scene on black metal is undeniable. One person that helped black metal grow so much across Norway and beyond was Euronymous (Oystein Aarseth), who masterminded Mayhem because of his high openness to creative experimentation. However, after he died in 1993, there was a tricky question about how black metal will continue to perform locally and globally. The energy was either going to drift away, or the genre would continue to grow and hit new heights that even Euronymous couldn’t have imagined.  It didn’t take long before the question was answered. Fortunately, the latter proved to be the case, and one of the major driving forces behind this was the band Satyricon.  In 1994, Satyricon delivered two Norwegian folk black metal music albums with a medieval atmosphere, titled The Shadowthrone and Dark Medieval Times. These two albums made waves, but the best was yet to come. In 1996, two years later, they released a third album – Nemesis Divina. This was an instant hit that took the band ahead of the pack at the time and shone more light on black metal globally.   Before we mention any of the songs on the Nemesis Divina album, we need to start from the forward-thinking and bold nature of the album cover. Of course, there was a prototype for album covers within the black metal genre, especially within the Norwegian scene. It was roughly DIY white and black photographs, dark-toned color on shadowed images, or stark sketch drawings. This was exemplified across the genre and even in the first two albums by Satyricon. However, the cover for Nemesis Divina was something special, a unique work of art.    You could tell from listening to the album that there was fiery aggression that burned throughout the songs’ instrumentation. They abandoned the lone acoustic guitar passage in their last albums, and the keyboards were arranged in accompaniment with the riffs of the guitar instead of taking a sole focus.  According to a pro essay writing, one can feel Norwegian folk music’s influence, a constant change through their career. However, it is mainly used as a thematic break from the aggressive fury. This is prominent on the riffs in the second part of “Forhekset” and the keyboard passage in the hypnotic tremolo riff in “Du som hater Gud.” The higher definition in their recording ensures that the instruments are heard exquisitely clear instead of cacophony, allowing the listeners to appreciate the beauty of the compositions.  Although there were many highlights and collaborations, the crown jewel on this album is “Mother North.” This six-and-a-half-minute track with infectious melodies, brooding atmospheres, and varied paces became the most recognizable song of the band’s career. The proof of this is in the elicit chanting of the crowd across their live venues worldwide.  One of the reasons why “Mother North” became a huge hit, as mentioned in topbritishessays, is its music video, which was one of the earliest examples of a video for black metal music. It gave a more atmospheric dream than the expected linear story, but it correctly exhibited the themes with which Satyr created the song, mostly romanticism for Norway. The video was a full-fleshed exhibit of several key elements of the black metal scene in Norway.  Satyricon went on to change after the era of Nemesis Divina, but throughout their career, the success and legacy of this album never left them. On the contrary, it continued to propel them forward many years after. On the 20th anniversary of the album in 2016, Satyricon, while hesitant about feeling nostalgic about the past, toured the entire album. This was a lovely tribute to the old fans who were with them as they evolved and their newer fans who missed the heydays of the album. Five years on and twenty-five years since the album was released, it is still regarded as a classic album that delights fans worldwide. As the lyrics of the highlight song of the album goes: “united we stand, together we walk.” Author Bio Eliza Sadler is a professional journalist with extensive experience, four years, working for A writer com and Essay on Time, where you can order a college essay.
