The experience is heard from the first note. The album begins stately with beautiful polyphonic singing, which promises a lot - and the promise is kept. The first song turns into heavy dark metal that seems to be characterized by anxiety and hopelessness. The world situation gives no reason for positive horizons. But as solar ambassadors, they may not have completely lost hope, as the willful end of "Snail" points out. After all, they seem to want to take on our dying earth star. Grunge is published as a genre that connects the members. Mainly on a melodic level, this reaches the ear, but this is not a retro album. The music is rather forward-looking and experimental, but also humble. This debut album contains an admirable mix of raw weight and well-constructed melodic parts. The 9-minute opener Disciple is particularly phenomenal on a straight through well-composed record where Dozers Fredrik Nordin shows width in his vocal range. They are independently produced and are distributed through CD Baby. Founded in 2020, the band wrote and released the album “The Hills Will Burn” within a year of formation. In the face of a global pandemic, the band utilized the online platform “Fiverr” to bring together musicians from around the world for the creation of their debut album. The “Hills Will Burn” features Igor Sokolov (St Petersburg, Russia) on vocals, Armando Diaz on Guitar/Bass/Drums, and guest performances by Christina Rotondo (U.K.- featured on “Fields Of Gray”), Daniel Picknell (U.K.- featured on “Without You”), Joylin (Ukraine- featured on “Behold The Archer”), and Carlos Carty (Peru- featured on “Trail of Tears”). The album was mixed and mastered by Filipe Gruber (Venezuela), the artwork was composed by Vhummel (Brazil). The album features ominous, down-tuned guitar riffs paired with ferocious vocals centered around the growing social unrest spreading across America. A Vicious End’s first full-length work starts off with the short instrumental “A New Beginning”, which creates an epic heavy metal atmosphere but is soon interrupted by “At Dawn We Ride”. Noticeably a lot heavier, the second song continues on a more melodic death metal / metalcore note. Next on is the gentler “Fields of Gray” where we can enjoy Christina Rotondo’s beautiful clean vocals, complementing the main vocal line just perfectly. Then we can hear “Smoke and Mirrors” and “Salt The Earth” – two more upbeat and energetic songs followed by “The Black Pearl”. The latter seems to be the heaviest piece so far – the slow and heavy guitar parts even set an almost djent-like mood – certainly a great genre development. The following “Trail of Tears” is probably the most unexpected track on the record, combining the metal and metalcore genres with Carlos Carty’s traditional music elements which showcases Armando’s more experimental side. The next one, “Don't Back Down” sounds more aggressive in its beginning but the hypnotizing clean vocals gradually make it more progressive and melodic. In turn, “Without You” and Dan Picknell’s clean vocals again make for an interesting addition to the album and create a great contrast to everything else we have heard so far which was mostly incredibly heavy - not that anyone is complaining! We also cannot fail to mention the magnificent guitar parts which are present all over the record and are the one consistent element that make it truly memorable and compositionally outstanding. “Let The Waters Consume” and “Insidious” are also great examples of Armando’s guitar excellence. The twelfth and final song “Behold The Archer” ends with a touching and kind of open-ended violin part descending into silence. We can safely say that “The Hills Will Burn” is an intriguing and promising start to A Vicious End’s musical path! Bio      Incursion has reunited and burst onto the traditional Heavy Metal scene. The band has released their debut six-song EP – The Hunter – on No Remorse Records.  Incursion consists of original members Maxx Havick and Michael Lashinsky on guitars with Buddy Norris on drums. The lineup is completed by Stone Jamess on bass and Steve Samson on lead vocals.    The Miami, FL based band was active from 1982-1986 and did not have a formal release outside a locally produced cassette compilation of Florida Hardcore and metal bands in 1985. In 2018 the three original members got back together with the intent of finally performing and recording their wealth of material. Recruiting Steve and then Stone made the band complete and ready to present the music as it was intended.    The Hunter is a concept EP.  The Hunter – born in a war-torn land and destined to fight for survival since birth, faced all adversaries, man and beast alike.   He mastered his inner demons through faith, battle and revenge. This album was composed by Jake Schreuder in the isolation of the mountainous wilderness of Montana. Much like the unpredictable and often schizophrenic weather patterns deep in those mountains, the moods and styles of “Vein Beneath The Soil” shift in an awe inspiring range of emotions. Accented by Navarro's thundering drums, and Scotto's piercing vocals, "Vein Beneath The Soil" is a beautiful melodic descension into madness. BIO The seed for Cellar Vessel was planted in 2013, when Jake Schreuder sought to bring his compositions out of his dismal college dwelling, and into a legitimate project. With passions fixed on isolation and creativity, Schreuder posted the oxymoronic ad, “Calling All Musical Introverts.” Chris Navarro, an aspiring extreme drummer, was the sole replier. From that day forward, Navarro and Schreuder intertwined musical discipline, friendship, and unrelenting criticism in an effort to push them to their creative limits. Cellar Vessel’s first song, Murk was written in their first week of playing together, and rehearsed obsessively. Navarro, ever the exacting drummer, told Schreuder that his maximum blast/double bass speed at the time was 190 BPM, which in turn caused Schreuder to designate the song’s tempo to 191 bpm. This sort of encouraging musical cruelty laid the foundation for what was to eventually become an album’s worth of material on Vein Beneath The Soil. Although the 3 members of Cellar Vessel now span across the country, the project originated in the musically deprived small town of Bozeman, Montana. The band was created, first and foremost, as a project meant for the author’s alone. But as skills and compositions progressed, the compulsion for live feedback became more appealing. Cellar Vessel’s music was rehearsed and practiced as instrumental pieces for over 3 years, until Dario Scotto was recommended by a close friend of the band. Scotto arrived with a small booklet of lyrics, which he spewed with magnificent guttural prowess over Navarro and Schreuder’s compositions. The intensity of the music paired with Scotto’s horrifying shrieks and desperate growls was the final piece of the puzzle. 4 years later, after a small handful of shows supporting nationally renowned artists, Cellar Vessel once again became reclusive and its members isolated themselves across the country in an effort to continually progress their disciplines. Now, this 8 year journey and its many lessons have realized this projects maturity, and signaled its readiness to be released to the public. FOR FANS OF: Atheist, (early) Megadeth, (early) Cynic FATAL SIN were formed in late 1985 in Boca Raton, Florida by guitarist Adam Riewold and drummer Greg Threlkel (who were in middle school at the time) out of a love for both the energized Thrash of bands such as Slayer and Megadeth as well as the more intricate arrangements of Rush. After going through a revolving door of musicians, the line-up solidified with the addition of guitarist Haven Eaton and bassist Kevin Bachaus. Fast forward, FATAL SIN would take home the top prize at a local Battle of the Bands, winning 4 hours of free studio time. With their winnings the band would enter Hollywood Sync Studios in  November  of  1989  to  record  their  first  demo.  Friend,  and  bassist  for  local  heavyweight's Saigon Kick Tom DeFile, produced. Armed with a quality recording, FATAL SIN would begin to gig heavily, sharing the stage with bands such as Vio-Lence, Devastation, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Raped Ape, Cynic, and Pantera. Not long after the recording of the 1989 Demo and that momentum began, Kevin would be diagnosed with spinal cancer and would have to exit the band.  Adam would switch from guitar to bass, making FATAL SIN a three piece. It would be during this period that the band would begin to be influenced by not only bands such as   Watchtower   and   Voi-Vod ,  but  also  by  the  complex  sounds  and  arrangements  of  classic Jazz/Fusion artists such as Return To Forever and Mahavishnu Orchestra . These influences are highly evident on their final studio recording, "Episode", which was recorded in 1991 for a local compilation album " Unsigned III: Killing Time ". Shortly  after  the  recording  of  “Episode”,  FATAL SIN  would  go  on hiatus  for  close  to  a  year before reemerging as UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE.  The band would issue one final 3-song selftitled demo in 1993 and disband in 1997. Greg Threlkel would go on to co-found the band BURNER in 1998 along with guitarists John Paul  Soars  ( Raped  Ape/Paingod/Malevolent  Creation/Divine  Empire )  and  Jason  Morgan ( Monstrosity ), who would record one album for Arctic Music Group in 1992 titled “One For The Road”. Adam Riewold moved to Tampa, Florida and has been involved in multiple projects, with his most recent being the band LEVEL THE PLANET. This deluxe re-issue features all of the bands studio recordings, as well as 3 live songs, fully remastered  from  the  original  sources  by  Rob  Colwell  at  Bombworks  Sound  and  an  8-page booklet featuring archival photos and some personal insights from Adam Riewold. Also included is a bonus DVD featuring their entire performance at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida in 1990. These guys play their vision of progressive metalcore with many influences and excellent musicianship. There are six songs on this little record and Buffering is kind of weird yet ominous intro to the things coming afterwards. Meridian of Misery sounds a bit chaotic but evolves in the last third of the song into awesome melody sounding a bit like Gothenburg style death metal, the only thing lacking here in my opinion are vocals and that would be fantastic. Yes, the whole record is instrumental with no vocals, but no matter, Temponaut let their music speak for itself. Lockout is a song that sounds with awesome drum coupled with bass and atmospheric almost post black metal vibe and with keyboard melody behind it brings the whole thing to a nice slow rolling ocean of emotions. We Have Our Heading is the longest song on the record and being a mixture of heavy metal, I even hear some doom metal in there, but the drumming and changes in the tempo and atmosphere from upbeat metal to sludge post black metal are just fantastic! This does not get boring for one second while listening. Forgotten is somehow the most weird and noise sounding song on the record with that weird wicked melody at the end of the song that gets under your skin and just doesn´t get out for hours. The Rudis is the last song on the record and also being the most epic and reminded me a lot of one band from my hometown Emphasis, who play similar kind of songs. Em atividade desde 1994, a Hocus Pocus já enfrentou diversos impactos dos momentos históricos do país, porém, dirigida por uma família considerada guerreira pelos frequentadores, se reinventou diversas vezes e, nesses 26 anos, conseguiu manter-se em pé, proporcionando shows inesquecíveis que marcam a cena rock do Vale do Paraíba. Stream the album in full:  https://www. decibelmagazine.com/2020/10/ 21/album-premiere-junior- bruce-pray-for-death/ Pre-order:  https:// thesludgelord.bandcamp.com/ album/pray-for-death Pray For Death by Junior Bruce Dredged from the swamps of DeLand, Florida, long-running stoner metal/sludge outfit  Junior Bruce  is about to unleash their fourth studio recording via  Sludgelord Records .  The  Pray for Death  LP will be released on cassette and digital formats.   Vocalist Scott Angelacos, bassist Tom Crowther, guitarist Nate Jones, and drummer Brett Tanner established the band in 2007, signing to A389 Records in 2010; that same year, Angelacos founded  High Five Studios  with friend Jeff McAlear.  Bryan Raymond joined Junior Bruce on guitar in 2011 and the band released their debut album  The Headless King  with A389 in 2012.   Unfortunately, the band went through some tragic transitions over the next several years.   Brett Tanner passed away in 2012, and Bryan Raymond survived a debilitating motorcycle accident in 2015.   Jeff McAlear stepped into Tanner's role, while Chris Hayden replaced Raymond as the second guitarist; the band put out two releases with A389 during this time,  The Ocean's Daughter  EP in 2014 and full-length album  Endless Descent  in 2016.   Junior Bruce began a new chapter of writing and recording in 2018 with guitarist Brett Walker, who joined the band after Nate Jones's departure.  Drawing influence from Black Sabbath to Motorhead, Pink Floyd, and Bad Brains, the band delivers freight train riffage that has just the right mix of menace and groove.  Over the years, they've supported the likes of Pentagram, EYEHATEGOD, Integrity, Big Business, Yob, Monolord,  Weedeater, and more, as well as appearing at Maryland Deathfest, A389 Bash, Mutants of the Monsters Festival, Anti-Pop Festival, and Florida Is Loud Festival.  Called "bullish and blistering" by  Louder Sound  and "striking" by  Glacially Musical , this was a band on the precipice of great things.     And just as Junior Bruce was ready to kick into high gear, the coronavirus pandemic put the music industry -- and everything else in the world -- on hold.  They were able to finish recording the LP  Pray For Death , with McAlear handling production duties at High Five Studios and Sanford Parker at Hypercude in Chicago, Illinois contributing his mixing and mastering expertise.     Pray For Death  is the work of five musicians who have honed their creative and collaborative processes over more than a decade, overcoming many challenges along the way.   Soaked in swamp muck and drenched in fuzz, Junior Bruce is a force to be reckoned with.    Lineup: Scott Angelacos-Vocals Tom Crowther-Bass Jeff McAlear-Drums Brett Walker-Lead Guitar Chris Hayden-Guitar

This is the first album entirely worked on exclusively by Michael Sanchez, he's been the main songwriter for Pain Patterns and has had his contributions towards Judicator, but everything done by King Ov Wyrms so far is all done by him with no outside additions.  2. This is the 2nd full-length album Michael has produced from his home studio Odyssey Sound Studios, aside from doing some preproduction for several Tucson bands and helping record for the Judicator albums, and taking the production control for Pain Patterns.  3. King Ov Thornes has gone through at least 8 different band members before ultimately becoming a solo effort, the original idea was to feature some of Michael's personal favorite band members from his favorite Arizona based death metal groups.  4. This is the first time Michael’s vocals have been recorded, Michael has done backing vocals for Pain Patterns for several years under the instruction of Jesse Lujan (Pain Patterns main vocalist). After recording some demo vocals for early King Ov Wyrms tracks Michael was pushed to attempt doing vocals for the whole album by Paul Black of Turned To Stone and Patrick Parris of Project Roenwolfe.   About: King Ov Wyrms is homage to classic death and black metal acts of the late ’80s/early ’90s with a touch of modern aggression. Formed in Tucson, AZ. King came from the want of a more aggressive act when the main band of Michael Sanchez, Pain Patterns, started taking its roots in early 2015. He loved the music he was creating but felt that the band couldn’t fulfill his desire for a purely aggressive musical venture. The project went through many different lineup changes only to be consistently held together by Sanchez. Having studied classical music and jazz to a degree while growing up, it gave him the tools to write comfortably on his own even in the concept of metal music. He starts out with a basic riff or a small melody line off of a piano and just adds on and on until it manifests into some sort of abomination of sound. In early 2020 upon Sanchez’s departure from the power metal act Judicator, he decided to pull King out of hiatus but only as a solo effort to produce a full-length album. Over the span of several months, Sanchez was able to completely record all of the songs previously written for King as a full lineup, this time all the music was performed and written solely by him. The two met through another mutual Goth Rock project ELI VAN PIKE. Their debut album “Into Darkness” came out in September and what a show they put on. The duo creates Gothic Metal with splashes of Goth/Industrial and a few surprises throughout. Read on for a track breakdown.   The band titled intro track leads into the synth-heavy track “Ashes to Ashes”. This song is quite atmospheric with the orchestration and Goth style rhythm. I can imagine a crumbling industrial world; rusting metal structures and smoke stacks billowing with steam and whirling around buzzing neon lights. “Whatever You Want” reminded me of DEPECHE MODE with a string and bagpipe section added in. The scene carries from the last, someone is trying to escape the concrete jungle and is perhaps in a seedy part of the city to figure out a plan. “Father” has a wistful, nostalgic feel with the Folk Metal elements mixed into this one. “Children from Hell” features German singer SINtana. The contrast of her bell-like voice and Ken's low tone was perfect for this haunting pure Gothic Metal track; complete with some cool electronic beats and catchy melodies on the piano and in the sang portions.   “Obsession” flows into the heavier, yet dance-worthy Goth/Industrial vein. The low spoken vocals paired with the rad riffs and key solos is easily something I can imagine blasting at a goth dance club, circa 1995. “Beyond Sunrise” is a full instrumental track that continues with the pure Goth feel, even with an electronic organ and some synths in the mix. “Lust For Life” brings the folk instruments back in the smoky streets of the city. You could definitely feel the longing and some despair in this groovy track. “Bright Lights” certainly painted a scene of driving and seeing the city illuminated before you. There's a glorious feeling with the choirs subtly humming behind the main melody too. “I Don't Care” is another dance-worthy Goth club number. Some major NINE INCH NAILS vibes in this one. “Lies” is a gloomier track, in the vein of late 80's CLAN OF XYMOX. The album closes with the song “My Mortality”. The setting in this song was super cool; the synthesizers and orchestration are so theatrical and kind of spooky. I kept picturing vampires; the enticing yet slightly unsettling vibe of this track definitely paints some sort of ethereal immortal being. This synthy track could have easily fit in in a movie like “Queen of the Damned” or “Underworld”.   Overall, while I had a feeling this album would be pretty cool, I loved it even more than I expected to. I really enjoy Goth music and I'm always curious to hear modern-day bands give the synth-heavy gloomy genre a whirl. INCEPTION OF ETERNITY certainly channels the genre well, but also added their own twist with some folk instrumentation mixed in. I also really loved the Peter Steele-esque bass ranged vocals and the Darkwave to pure Goth/Industrial instrumental interludes as the album flowed along. There were other times that the band would take on a more mid to late 90s THEATRE OF TRAGEDY feel as well (a personal favorite band of mine!) I also enjoyed the atmospheric portions that painted all kinds of moonlit or flickering neon light lit scenes in my mind as I listened. This album is honestly worth listening to multiple times over; what a great debut album!    Songwriting: 9 Musicianship: 9 Memorability: 9 Production: 9 With Inception Of Eternity, the German label darkSIGN-Records brings another promising project to the start. Head of the project is again Thorsten Eligehausen, who has already founded, produced and successfully established projects like Cradle of Haze, Eli van Pike or Schandpfahl in the scene. With Inception Of Eternity influences from Scandinavian Symphonic Metal and German medieval rock are combined to an interesting Gothic Rock mixture. The songs were written, recorded and produced by Thorsten Eligehausen. As vocal support, Eligehausen brought no less a person than the American singer Ken Pike into the team. Pike is also a member of the project Eli van Pike and is also a well-known figure through his own projects Absolon, Firesphere and brand new Blutlaich. Eligehausen has also brought other professionals on board as supporting musicians: For the lead guitar in the instrumental song "Beyond Sunrise" he could win the German guitarist Marc Vanderberg (also a member of Eli van Pike) and the song "Children from Hell" is perfected by the German singer SINtana. The album will be available from 21.08.2020 on all platforms corresponding to the genre.
