Today, Heidens Hart Records announces January 15th, 2021 as the international release date for Sagenland's long-awaited debut album, Oale groond, on CD and vinyl LP formats. Sagenland is a black metal project from Twente, Netherlands, founded at the turn of the millennium. Driving forces behind the project are A. (Cultus, Heimdalls Wacht, Uuntar) and F. (Asgrauw, Meslamtaea), who share an obsession for traditional Scandinavian black metal such as the legendary Ulver trilogy, old Dodheimsgard, and Arckanum. Sagenland plays folk-injected black metal with a leading role for melodic bass parts, epic choirs, and acoustic guitars. In 2005, the band released the three-track EP Bladval on a split LP. The label ceased activity shortly after, so only a handful of copies were distributed, making this a real collectors item. Fifteen years later, Sagenland awakened from dormancy and finally deliver their debut album, Oale groond. The album follows the tradition of riff-based, well-written, actual songs, while capturing nostalgia, romanticism, and aggression in a way that is rare nowadays. This is sincere and honest traditional and folkish-themed grim black metal. Lyrics are mostly in the local dialect and describe sagas and local poetry from the countryside between Regge and Dinkel, where Sagenland is rooted. My name is Amir (I’m a drummer myself). As one of the founders of metal-heads.de the music magazine for fans of the heavy side of music, I’m happy to hook up with you today to get an update an insight regarding your latest activities. Our attitude is: Distortion is our passion! So anything goes, using an electric guitar. And with the PREHISTORIC ANIMALS you can claim tob e on the right side there…Hahaha! I thank you for the chance to do this interview. My review will be up on our homepage on 23.11.2020 (it´s in German though). So I wanted to give the people out there chance, to learn more about your band and music, as I came across the album and thought, it’s worth speaking about! PREHISTORIC ANIMALS – how it all began… MH: to be honest, I’ve not heard about PREHISTORIC ANIMALS before November 2020 and I can imagine, that many others also need to get some insight. Can you please tell us, how you started the band and how the development came up making it 4 out of 2 musicians? Stefan: Samuel and I started everything as a recordingproject in 2015. We didn’t really have a goal, but it started to sound very good, so we realized that we had to release it. The album, „Consider it a work of art“ was released in November 2018 and shortly after that, people started to contact us. We got a couple of festivalgigs in August-October 2019 and we realized, that we had to have a band. We spoke to Daniel Magdic and he said yes. We also hired bassplayer Noah Magnusson and Stefan Jernståhl on keys. We started rehearsals, did the gigs and we got great response. PAIN OF SALVATION and other bands from the past MH: being a founding member of well known PAIN OF SALVATION, at least Daniel (guitar) is recognized by the scene. What did the other musicians do, before entering this band? Stefan: Me and Samuel played together in alternative rockband POUND. We did two albums. I have my own Stefan Altzar soloproject and have worked together with Tony Harnell from TNT for a lot of years. Noah is also member of disco/soul band, NIGHTSHINE. MH: I don’t know, if you like to categorize or to be categorized. But could you please – to give our readers an idea of what you sound like – find a description of your style of music. I like the mix of straighter rock and prog elements, when looking at your latest album! Stefan: I think it’s a mix of Progrock/metal and alternative rock with a lot of pop and 80’s vibes. Here is a good chance to discover the music From KING’S X to MUSE – a wide range… MH: how would you describe your main influences as a band? Stefan: We love KATATONIA, A PERFECT CIRCLE, MUSE and KING’S X. I could mention 20 more, but you get the idea. MH: Metal music has gone through various changes in style and I think, the traditional bands and elements are still alive and on the other hand new influences are coming in. What is your opinion? And what are the basic trademarks, that it needs to make it good metal? Stefan: Some kind of raw organic energy. I love metal music, that is inspired by other genres. MH: I bet, the band doesn’t bring in enough money to fill the fridge. What do you guys in the do as dayjob to stay alive? In combination with that: what are the longterm goals, that you wanna achieve with your music/the band? Not only the school of life teaches you… Stefan: Daniel, Noah and myself are teachers. Samuel is a little bit like Chandler in Friends, no-one remembers what he is working with. Haha! He works in an office…In a perfect world, we are still making the music we want, but with a much higher income. MH: regarding playing live…what musicians would you love to share the stage with and/or what band would you like to tour with and why? Stefan: I would love to tour with MUSE (Enormous stageproduction) and share stage with KING’S X (Brilliant musicians). MH: regarding playing live – festival, club gig or big venue? There are various kinds of gigs to play for a band to play. Small sweaty club gigs, big venues or even stadiums and then these 3-day-festivals in front of 50.000 to 120.000 people. What kind of performances do you prefer and why? The perfect number Stefan: 1000 people at a venue are perfect! A lot of people, but you are still in contact with them. MH: are there any plans for some touring maybe even in Germany or the Netherlands after this worldwide corona-crisis is over some day? I mean, all being save and the conditions regarding „the virus“ under control. Stefan: We have a German festivalgig booked in April. We played at Progpower Europe last year, so we have a lot of people liking us in the Netherlands. We are doing our best to get more gigs there. MH: what were your plans for PREHISTORIC ANIMALS, when you recorded the new material regarding the future? Are these plans still alive in this worldwide pandemic? There were different plans… Stefan: We wanted to make the album of the year and a lot of people seem to like it. The thing that didn’t go as planned, was of course the touring. But hopefully, it will get better next year. MH: the final words is always to our interview partners. Here YOU get the chance to tell the people out there something, that you think is important, regarding music in general, the latest album or whatever. So, here we go… Stefan: I hope you all will take some time to dive into the world of PREHISTORIC ANIMALS. We are very pleased with the new album – „The magical mystery machine (Chapter 1)“. Compared to their 2012 debut album, their contribution to the 2014 split with Truppensturm, and their devastating recent EP The Foul and the Flagrant, this material accentuates a more sinister and atmospheric approach, including swarming subtle melodies in the first as well as an extensive doom part and keyboards in the second song. However, all this happens without missing the aggressive directness and killer instinct that made the band one of the torchbearers of the German bestial black/death metal landscape. Thematically, Thorybos lyricist V. Tyrant - an actual archaeologist and university professor - once again explores various dark and mystic aspects of ancient culture across these songs. "Underground Cemetery" takes especial inspiration from arguably the most fascinating subterranean structure of ancient Malta, known as Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum. The second song, "Temple Prostitution," deals precisely with the phenomenon of sacred sex rites and their paid concubines - not in a derogatory way, but as essential part of religious practice and ritual performance. These four tracks work in magickal harmony/disharmony with Hadopelagyal's three contributions, summarily rendering Conjuring Subterranean Vortex the personification of its ominous namesake. Guitarist Chris Steberl has been playing music for over 45 years starting at the age of 8 years old. He has played in numerous bands over the years finally forming his own instrumental band Alcazar back in 1988. They were the first and only band to ever win the local Battle of the Bands WITHOUT a singer! In 2003 he released ' Reasons for a Decade' with Lion Music out of Europe. The CD garnered great reviews from all over the world and he followed up with the sophomore Lion Music release ' Chasin VooDoo '. Chris went on to win the Sam Ash " Best In Shred " contest in Columbus Ohio and has supported such acts as Dream Theater , Greg Howe , Tony Macalpine , and Steve Vai over the span of his career. He has also been on numerous compilation CD's, the most noted one being Warmth in the Wilderness : A Tribute to Jason Becker where he covered " Opus Pocus " which received praise in Guitar World magazine's review of the album. Currently Chris is finishing up his latest instrumental album Project Alcazar: Lost In Centralia bringing in ex Fates Warning drummer Mark Zonder 's talents along with virtuoso keyboardist Caleb Hutlsar who helped co write all the songs. They spoke about how he pays regular visits to casinos in London to play slot machine games, and how he relaxes with Jack Daniels and coke while doing so. Frank Sinatra Frank Sinatra was legendary in music and acting, and has a lot of links with the sin city. That explains why his name is the first on the list and why he would take to gambling. Reports have it that the singer was in love with gambling, but never took losses lightly. He was always seen fuming after losing and after being denied some credits. In fact, one of the reports has it that he so loved gambling that in 1960, he purchased the Cal Neva Resort & Casino together with Sam Giancana of Chicago Mobs and Dean Martin. Under the ownership of the musician, the Las Vegas based resort soared in popularity, to the extent that a celebrity room was established for famous people. Meanwhile, in 1968, Sinatra’s gambling license was revoked by the Gaming Control Board of Nevada for conducting illegal activities in the casino hall. Because of this, he had to sell the resort. Gladys Knight Gladys Knight is among the biggest musicians in the world and many people still see her as the empress of soul music. But people who know her history will understand that her life has been full of ups and downs, with gambling addiction as one of her downturns. Information out there has it that she suffered gambling addiction problems all through the 1980s, and within this period, she reportedly lost up to $60,000 in just a night at a baccarat table. She wrote a book titled 'Between Each Line and Glory,' where she revealed that her career ended, her relationship with her son was destroyed, and her other relationships crumbled due to gambling addiction. But the good news is that she sought help from the Gamblers Anonymous, and got back to her feet through their assistance. Nobody knows whether she is still into gambling as we write. Ceelo Green Ceelo Green is a singer and rapper who have given the world loads of hit songs that are fun to listen to. However, many people who know him, love him, and enjoy his music are not aware that he is a very serious gambler. The game that Ceelo loves to spend time with is dice. The dice game that the man named Thomas DeCarlo Callaway enjoys most is the one with six sides, and some people even allude that it’s the number that inspired his stage name, Ceelo. Nelly Another fan of gambling within the ranks of popular musicians is the rapper Nelly. The star is said to play poker games regularly. Report has it that he has travelled to different parts of the world to play in poker events. The report also indicated that he was one of the participants in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, The PokerStars European Poker Tour, and the 2007 World Series of Poker . Brazilian band Angra announces release of live video clip - @thebeast

One of the most successful national bands abroad, Angra, is preparing to release the live video clip of the track "Black Widow´s Web", where Sandy once again showed his metal version by joining the group for the recording. After many requests from fans, the video clip will be released on November 28, Saturday, during the interactive live that the band will perform at 19h on Youtube and Instagram, where they will also tell news for 2021. The presentation was filmed in July 2018, for what would be the quintet's new DVD, which featured the new album ‘Ømni’ played in its entirety. And then with “No Remorse Records” also one that is worthy of them. Traditionalists should definitely read on, because there are really no beginners who are at work here and it is amazing to find out the story behind the band and the songs on the EP presented here. INCURSION were founded in Miami in 1982, but did not release their first demo cassette with three tracks until three years later, of course through their own distribution. In the same year ´Vengeance´ and ´Tell Me The Truth´ were released on the sampler ´Florida Explosion´, which remarkably contains songs by local bands that can be mainly assigned to hardcore and punk. So it remains to be said that ´Crown Of Thorns´ is an exclusive song of the demo to this day. I would like to emphasize this at this point, because all the pieces on the EP ´The Hunter´ at hand are from the years 1982 to 1986, but have never been immortalized on a medium. This honor has so far only been reserved for the three pieces mentioned. 1986 was also the year INCURSION was dissolved,which had not made it to an official publication in the five years of their existence. Allegedly there are recordings from the rehearsal room and from live performances from that time, but I don't want to imagine what sound quality they might have.     I have no idea what the band members at that time were up to in the 32 years after INCURSION broke up ... probably the usual, that is, getting married, building a house, fathering children and planting a tree. When that was all done and at some point your own children started repeating this cycle, you probably asked yourself what you could do with your free time and regained freedom. And there was something ... and songs are still left over from that time. So why not round up the old guys and see what goes on. After all, three of the four founding members got together again in 2018 and stubbornly pursued their freshly forged plan,to work through the unfinished business from the past and maybe even finally to bring out a full-fledged debut album with new songs. According to reports, the latter is already planned for next year. But there have been two changes. On the one hand there is a new singer in Steve Samson, who replaces David Russel, and the former bassist Maxx Havick has now strapped his guitar on. Since the old guitarist Mike Lashinsky is also part of the reunion, INCURSION now play with two guitars, which certainly gives the sound of the band and the songs that are now around 35 years old. The almost 22 minutes long EP, of which almost three minutes are taken up by an intro and an outro, tell a story in the remaining four songs, regardless of whether it is in the Middle Ages or in a fantasy world, not entirely new. The main character of this concept album has been fighting for his survival since his birth in a country torn by war and devastation. In search of the only true king, he must be strong in faith, but also fight against his inner demons. Logically, this journey also leads him to a final battle against the ruling false king. Hmmm ... was there maybe Robin Hood looking for the godfather of the Lionheart, who had to defend himself against the seizure of power by Johann Ohneland and cross the blade with his henchmen? The prologue begins with the melodic sounds of a guitar, which are soon replaced by a riff that would do Kirk Hammet's honor. After a spoken introduction to the story of the hunter it goes seamlessly into ´Warrior Of Destruction´, where the first surprise awaits me. The band comes from the USA ?! But what is echoing against me is classic NWoBHM. A first impression that is even reinforced when using Tim Samson's vocals. A warm but powerful voice that would have fit perfectly on a record released in England in the early 80s. The song is mainly carried by the killer riff, which runs through the entire song, literally pounds itself in the brain and reverberates in the ear canals for hours after listening to the piece.A hammer song that contains everything that lovers of Heavy Metal could wish for. A concise riff, a great voice, a chorus with harmonious choirs, elaborate guitar work in the middle section ... OK, I think you understood. Then follows ´Guiding Faith´ ... and my heart stops for a moment. Ohohoh choirs? This is supposed to create a particularly epic atmosphere matching the title, but thank God this moment only lasts a moment of shock (OK, there are almost 30 of them) and the song again offers what the opener promised. However darker and kept in the mid-tempo, this song, which can now be clearly located in the US Metal area, reminds of bands like OMEN, WARLORD, MANILLA ROAD and even CIRITH UNGOL (of course not Tim's vocals). The following ´Fade To Black´ then hits the gas again and goes straight to work.Only the chorus turned out to be a tad too cheesy for me, but that's what fans of great epic gestures will love, who keep all MANOWAR albums in a specially made shrine. But I am satisfied again with the classic playing of both guitars, corresponding solos and the particularly intense voice of Steve in this song. But my personal highlight is the last regular track ´Kingdom Of The Dead´. Maybe it's because I can't get Richard the Lionheart out of my head (he took part in the 3rd Crusade), but at the beginning of the piece I think I recognize an oriental keynote in the melody. The atmospherically dense, epic and almost doomy, very successful beginning of the piece changes very abruptly into a speedy part after about a minute,which is dominated by the double bass playing and Steve's very energetic vocals. The driving rhythm is regularly loosened up by melodic guitar solos and the chorus added to the chorus adds to the variety in this piece. With the final outro it was already with ´The Hunter´. Unfortunately, but as noted above, the band is actually currently working on their real debut with new songs, which will see the light of day sometime in the next year. If you hear INCURSION for the first time without knowing the history of the band, you might think of listening to another of these currently very hip and popular NWOTHM bands, but far from it. This is an original from a time when there was no differentiation between the NWoBHM and US Metal drawers. Everything was bloody heavy metal. The nice thing is that the EP was recorded and produced according to today's standards and such experienced people as Chris Short (Alpaca Ranch Recording in Florida) and Jorg Uken (Soundlodge recording studio in Rauderfehn, East Frisia) are responsible for the sound of this work. The commitment of Philip Lawvere for the artwork, who has already embellished the work of CELTIC FROST, KREATOR and HIRAX, is proof of thatthat the band is serious now. Because mind you, the album was released in digital form on May 29th. "No Remorse" only accepted the band afterwards and is now releasing ´The Hunter´ on CD and LP on December 11th. Not only the music, but also this effort I just have to go along with 8.5 points reward.
